One of the things I have learned from the last two decades working with every town in Vermont and with small businesses across the state is all of our solutions don't come from Montpelier. They will come from Vermonters like those I listened to on the jobs tour: small business owners, farmers, teachers, entrepreneurs, pipe fitters, retirees, school administrators and local officials.

"Our economic recovery cannot leave any community behind, yet job creation will not happen without high speed internet access in every community. I want to congratulate Sen. Leahy, Sen. Sanders and Congressman Welch for their advocacy and commitment to bringing high speed internet to every home in Vermont. I know that our federal delegation is doing everything in their power to turn this economy around and, as governor, I will lead our economic recovery plans with their support."

The idea is similar in theory to one of Secretary of State Deb Markowitz s talking points as she tours the state as a Democratic gubernatorial candidate.

In her "Jumpstart Vermont" plan, unveiled Wednesday, Markowitz called for continued support of small business and support of entrepreneurs.

"We got 23,000 Vermonters who are out of work, so my top priority is to jump-start job growth," she said. They need access to capital, so I talk about capital investment funds and how we can help our banks meet the needs of our [businesses]."
